For anxious dogs

A Safe Space where owners are in the same boat. A place where we can build on positive exposure, each time building confidence and resilience to your anxious dog.

Stress on daily walks can really take its toll on your dog. Everytime your dog has a stressful encounter the sympathetic nervous system is engaged and priming the body with norepinephrine and adrenaline ready for the amygdala to make its decision. Even if your dog hardly reacts the dogs heart rate has increased, blood vessel have restricted and all the nerve ending are fully wired.

These experiences not only cause a negative association and reduce your dogs confidence they create a stress response which while in full swing reduces the function of other organs, it can slow down the digestive system for example and if not helped create chronic stress. It can even prevent reproduction. The body cant function to its fullest when its sympathetic nervous is continually engaged.

Here at Safe Space we avoid that from happening because we are all at a distance and distance s key, I shall explain all things anxiety to you on the day. I shall come and walk with you (if your dog doesn’t mind) find out about your dog, teach you some pattern games and offer tips on day to day management.

The safe Space where everyone is in the same boat

Why choose Parker's Canine Care & Training?

My passion is understanding the canine mind. I geek out for hours watching MRI scans, I am obsessed about learning how their minds and body communicate, stress is of huge interest to me. How the environment effects behaviour. Evolution is another one of my preferred studies. We cannot truly build a relationship if we don't understand how they view the world. I will and love to share all that has taken me years to learn with you. In the last 10 years this industry has really advanced, we know so much more now and thankfully in a lot kinder ways than old Pavlov and Skinner!

About me

A lifelong learner, a compassionate trainer, and your dog’s quiet advocate.

My journey with animals began in 2008 at USK College Gwent, where I studied Level 3 Animal Management alongside an NVQ Level 2 in Agriculture. What started as a love for animals quickly became a lifestyle. While studying full-time, I was asked to farm-sit for a tutor—and that one job snowballed into a thriving farm-sitting, pet-sitting, and dog-walking business. It was busy, hands-on, and so full of joy.

When I became pregnant with my daughter, Rose, I made the decision to shift my focus. I stepped away from the physical work of farm-sitting and returned to my original goal: studying behaviour. I volunteered in rescue centres across Essex and London, including the National Animal Welfare Trust, Celia Hammond Animal Trust and Wag Tails rehoming, These experiences changed everything. I saw the emotional realities of animals with trauma and poor starts in life—and I knew I needed to understand them on a deeper level.

That led me to study Level 5 Canine Behaviour and Psychology through Compass Education, an ABTC-accredited course that laid the scientific foundation for how I work today. But I didn’t stop there. I trained with CIDBT and gained advanced training skills, the IMDT and the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). APDT was fantastic and showed me the door that I had been looking for. The way I could learn to look through different lenses. I later explored specialist pathways through Karen Pryor Academy, Sarah Whitehead, Michael Shikashio, and Grisha Stewart’s Academy. I’m proud to say I’m now a CBATI Knowledge Assessed Trainer, able to teach Behaviour Adjustment Training (BAT) — a method rooted in safety, choice, and self-regulation for dogs who struggle in the world.

Over time, I began running puppy classes—but I quickly realised that cookie-cutter classes didn’t serve every family. Some needed more time, more understanding, more flexibility. That’s when I found Kids Around Dogs (KAD), and became a proud KAD Professional. The neurodivergent course was brilliant, not just helping dogs in the home but doing so with understandingof the childs specific needs too, I offer school talks, dog-in-school assessments, and 10-week xenophobia protocol (based on CBT) have become a huge part of what I offer. Supporting children and families is something I care deeply about — especially helping them build safe, respectful, joyful relationships with their dogs.

One of the most transformative courses I’ve taken was Kristina Spaulding’s Unlocking Resilience Master Course — a six-month, honours-level deep dive into the science of stress and resilience in dogs. With live sessions twice a week and in-depth assignments, this course gave me the tools to truly understand how stress affects the whole dog: not just their behaviour, but their digestion, health, and ability to learn. It taught me how homeostasis and allostasis form the foundation of behavioural work, and why helping a dog return to calm baseline is essential before any learning can truly begin. That understanding shapes how I work every single day.

I now work holistically, combining behavioural science with compassion, communication, and lived experience. I look at the dog in front of me through multiple lenses — not just their behaviour, but their nervous system, their body language, their history, and their genetics. I believe dogs are deeply sentient beings, and deserve training that honours that truth.

Moving forward, I hope to become Fear-Free certified, continue my education with COAPE, and one day be skill-assessed under Grisha Stewart’s Academy to help bring those teachings to more UK professionals. I’m passionate about ethology and Kim Brophy’s L.E.G.S. model, and I always, always want to learn more.

But most of all, I want to help families see their dogs clearly — as individuals with feelings, needs, and potential. I want to help you build a relationship that’s built on trust, understanding, and joy.
